Buy Benzyl Alcohol Liquid CAS 100-51-6 — Pharmaceutical & Fragrance Grade

Benzyl Alcohol is a naturally occurring aromatic
primary alcohol found in many essential oils and
plant extracts including jasmine, hyacinth, and
ylang ylang. In industrial and pharmaceutical
contexts it is produced synthetically at high
purity for use as a solvent, preservative,
antimicrobial agent, fragrance ingredient, and
reactive diluent across pharmaceutical manufacturing,
cosmetic formulation, fragrance, epoxy resin
processing, and industrial chemical applications.

What makes Benzyl Alcohol exceptionally versatile
is its simultaneous qualification for use across
pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic, and industrial
applications — each sector valuing different
aspects of its chemical profile. In pharmaceuticals
it is a standard injectable preservative. In
fragrance it is a mild floral fixative. In epoxy
systems it is a reactive diluent. In industrial
chemistry it is a high-boiling specialty solvent.
Few chemicals achieve this level of cross-sector
applicability at commercial scale.

UAB An Group Export supplies pharmaceutical and
fragrance-grade Benzyl Alcohol to verified buyers
worldwide with full documentation and reliable
international delivery.

Primary Applications

1. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing —
   Injectable Preservative
Benzyl Alcohol is one of the most widely used
antimicrobial preservatives in pharmaceutical
injectable formulations worldwide. It is included
in multi-dose injectable vials at concentrations
of 0.9-2.0% v/v to prevent microbial contamination
between doses. Its broad-spectrum antimicrobial
activity against bacteria, yeasts, and moulds
combined with its low toxicity profile at
preservative concentrations and compatibility
with most active pharmaceutical ingredients
make it the standard injectable preservative
in global pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is
listed in USP, BP, and EP as an approved
pharmaceutical excipient for parenteral use.

2. Pharmaceutical Topical Formulations
Beyond injectable use, Benzyl Alcohol is used
as a local anaesthetic and antimicrobial agent
in topical pharmaceutical formulations including
wound care products, antipruritic preparations,
and specialty dermatological formulations.
It is also approved as an active ingredient
in topical pediculicidal (head lice treatment)
products at concentrations of 5% where it
acts by causing respiratory distress in lice.

3. Fragrance and Perfumery
Benzyl Alcohol is a classic fragrance material
used in fine fragrance and functional fragrance
as a mild, sweet, faintly rose-like aromatic
ingredient and fixative. Its moderate volatility
and pleasant but subtle aroma make it a useful
carrier and modifier in floral, oriental, and
fresh fragrance compositions. It is also used
as a solvent for other fragrance ingredients
and as a carrier for fragrance oil dilution.
Note: Benzyl Alcohol is listed as a fragrance
allergen under EU Cosmetics Regulation at
concentrations above 0.01% in leave-on products
and 0.1% in rinse-off products — labelling
requirements apply in EU markets.

4. Cosmetic Formulation — Preservative and Solvent
Benzyl Alcohol is approved for use as a
preservative in cosmetic formulations under
EU Cosmetics Regulation (Annex V) at maximum
concentrations of 1.0% in rinse-off products
and 0.5% in leave-on products (excluding oral
care and lip products). It provides effective
antimicrobial preservation activity against
gram-positive bacteria and yeasts, making it
a key component of paraben-free and
natural-positioned cosmetic preservative
systems. It is also used as a solvent for
cosmetic active ingredients and as a
fragrance carrier in skincare, haircare,
and personal care formulations.

5. Epoxy Resin Systems — Reactive Diluent
Benzyl Alcohol is widely used as a reactive
diluent in epoxy resin coating and adhesive
systems. As a reactive diluent it reduces
the viscosity of epoxy resin formulations
for improved application characteristics
while chemically incorporating into the
cured epoxy network — unlike non-reactive
solvents which evaporate and can cause
coating defects. It improves flow, levelling,
and penetration of epoxy coatings applied
to concrete, metal, and other industrial
substrates. It is also used as a curing
agent for certain epoxy resin systems at
elevated temperatures.

6. Industrial Solvent Applications
Benzyl Alcohol is used as a specialty
high-boiling solvent in industrial
applications including paint stripping
formulations, coating removal systems,
textile dyeing auxiliaries, printing ink
formulations, and specialty cleaning
compounds. Its high boiling point (205 deg C),
broad material solubility, and relatively
low vapour pressure make it effective in
applications where slow, controlled
evaporation is advantageous.

7. Food Flavouring
Benzyl Alcohol is approved as a food
flavouring agent under FEMA GRAS status
and EU food flavouring regulations, used
in food and beverage products to contribute
mild floral and rose-like flavour notes in
confectionery, beverages, and bakery
applications.
