Aniline is a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid at room temperature with a characteristic, strong amine odor — it darkens on exposure to air and light due to oxidative degradation. As a toxic, flammable liquid (UN 1547, Class 6.1, PG II), packaging, transport, and handling are arranged according to the applicable dangerous-goods requirements, typically in drums or IBC containers with appropriate hazmat labeling and documentation.

Storage must be in sealed, inert containers away from heat, light, oxidizing agents, and strong acids. Aniline is readily absorbed through skin — appropriate PPE including chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, and respiratory protection is mandatory during handling.
