Due to its classification as an organic peroxide (UN 3102/3104/3106 depending on formulation, Class 5.2), BPO is supplied in forms appropriate for safe transport — commonly as a water-wetted paste or phlegmatized powder to reduce sensitivity to friction and shock, packaged in accordance with dangerous-goods requirements and maximum package quantities per shipment.
Important handling and transport note: Benzoyl peroxide is a self-reactive substance with a defined Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT), and in its concentrated, dry form is also sensitive to friction, shock, and contamination. It requires temperature-controlled storage and transport within manufacturer-specified limits, must be kept away from heat sources, moisture loss, and incompatible materials (reducing agents, amines, strong acids), and is shipped under Class 5.2 dangerous-goods regulations. Storage and transport temperature requirements will be confirmed at the time of quotation based on grade, formulation, destination, and shipment duration.
