Regulatory Notice
Linalool is a listed fragrance allergen under EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, requiring mandatory declaration on finished cosmetic product labels above 0.01% in leave-on products and 0.1% in rinse-off products. It is subject to IFRA usage restrictions — oxidized linalool is a significantly more potent skin sensitizer than linalool itself, and IFRA standards specifically address antioxidant stabilization requirements for linalool-containing formulations. Natural vs. Synthetic Linalool — And Enantiomers
Synthetic linalool is the standard commercial grade for most fragrance and flavor applications — consistent quality, competitive pricing, and chemically identical to natural linalool. Natural-origin linalool, recovered from rosewood, ho wood, coriander, or lavender oils, qualifies for natural flavor and natural fragrance designation and commands a significant price premium.
Linalool exists as two enantiomers with subtly different aroma profiles: (S)-(+)-linalool (lavender-type, found in lavender and ho wood) has a fresher, more floral character; (R)-(-)-linalool (coriander-type, found in coriander) has a slightly woodier, spicier profile. Most commercial synthetic linalool is supplied as a racemic mixture. If your application requires enantiomerically enriched material, specify this in your quotation request.

Linalool is a colorless to pale yellow mobile liquid at room temperature with a fresh, floral odor. As a terpene alcohol subject to oxidative degradation, it should be stored in sealed, inert containers under nitrogen or argon blanket where possible, away from heat, light, and oxygen exposure. Depending on the order, options include drums or bulk shipment. Bulk quantities are available on request.
